Merry Christmas
So its been awhile since I made one of these and a lot of shit has happened since. Just want to say thanks to everyone who came to the wedding and stuff, now onto Xmas. Today was nice Ginny and I got up had breakfast and exchanged gifts she got me some gundams, AC/DC Rock Band track pack, a nice green dress shirt and my very own slutty queens blade revoltech. We went to her parents house for dinner and more gifting. It was nice enough, her dad was amusing as he always is. Afterward Ginny and I saw Sherlock Holmes, which was great. I enjoyed it a lot. We also saw a trailer for a remake of Clash of the Titans, why did no one tell me this was being made. Looks great as well. So Shitty day was Shitty. First I got up at six cause my boss is on vacation and my ass is working his shift. Good thing is it means I get his pay Hurray. Well I go out to my car to leave today at 3:30 and my car wont start BOOOOO!!!! So I get one of the guys to give me a jump start Hurray!!!! It still wont start BOOOO!!!! So I get ginny on the phone and she has to drive down to bayonne and call AAA to see what they can do. Turns out the Starter is no good, luckily the AAA guy was able to tap the starter and get it running so he didn't have to toe us 20+ miles back to clifton at 4.50 a mile. We dropped it off with the mechanic who is going to fix it tomorrow and so far a rough estimate is about 350....well easy come easy go I guess. So Otakon is less than a week away, and I feel I should make an LJ post. Someone check the thermastat in Hell. Anyway, I am really excited for Otakon. I am probably about 75% done my Mister Bushido costume. So I am really pumped to wear that around. There will be much Gundam at this con, in fact I think I am bringing about four costumes all gundam related. From Gundam 00 I am bringing Mister Bushido, Lyle, and Ali. I might bring season one Graham just because it would be a comfortable sunday costume. We will see. I will probably end up bringing it and not wearing it, lol. I am also bringing Char from the original gundam, hopefully after this con I can fix that costume up a bit and get off my lazy ass and make the mask and helmet. Unfortunately I decided to put off Snape yet again. Not that I don't have the time I could probably get it done if I really wanted to stress myself out but I just decided it wasn't worth it. We are probably going to see a midnight show by ourselves and I really don't feel like dressing up when it is just the two of us. I will do this costume at some point, but maybe later. As far as plans for Otakon go, I dont' have too many, like ginny said in her LJ post we want to hang out with friends that are going to be there. Especially the ones we don't see that often. I could list them but then I would forget someone and they would get offended. I also might pick up some gunpla in the dealers room (like I really need more at this point) as well as some anime I have been interested in watching lately, a friend of mine has been recommending Gao Gai Gar (gee is that one word or three) I am also excited cause I am entering my Zaku in the model contest. Not that I think it will win cause it has a couple of flaws but it will be a nice experience and my friend tells me they don't get a lot of participation, so Hurray. Anyway I am sure no one is reading this anymore, I don't blame you I never really pay attention to long post either. God damn why must I have expensive taste in clothes
So a every time I walk past Express for Mens I always see something that catches my eye. A couple of months ago it was a pair of pants, very nice white slacks. I check them out $70 dollars. as is the case with most of the clothes in that store, I can't justify spending that kind of money on one item of clothing. So cut to today and I am in the mall and I actually need white slacks for Graham, I have a pair but they are a 33 waist and I can squeeze into them but I am really a 34-36 so they really aren't that comfortable. Anyway I am wandering around the mall trying to find something in the 40 dollar price range, It's pricey but just around the most I would spend on something if I really liked it (note this is something I will wear outside of cosplay as well) Anyway the pants I was looking at are now on sale for fifty dollars, which is still a lot more money than I wanted to spend, however after talking with Ginny she agreed I should just buy the pants. Saw Wolverine, didn't want to kill myself.
there is one very important thing to do before you see Wolverine Origins if you want to enjoy it. Repeat after me "there is no Deadpool in this movie" just keep telling yourself that during the last fight and it is actually a pretty good movie. Alright Gijoe fans the wait is over. No I am not talking about the movie. AdultSwim.com has the first two episodes of the new Gijoe Resolute cartoon up online. They are a series of five minute shorts animated by Studio madhouse I believe. The site says they will be updating it every weekday. Seriously go check it out.  So I finished my Char Zaku, I was really pleased with how it came out for the most part. It wasn't perfect and there are a few mistakes I made along the way, but Ginny can tell you I was grinning like an idiot last night fooling around with this thing. I still have to finish the bazooka and the lift with the mini standing Char to go on it, but hurray. and now on to the pics, fair warning they might be a bit large. Just got back from seeing The Watchmen. It was great and I loved Rorshach all over again. Such a great character and while I know there will be a bunch of them running around the cons this summer I can't help but want to be one of them, as does Ginny which is kind of wierd but cool. But yeah the movie was great, they changed some stuff but it felt pretty true to the original book. I really didn't have a problem with it. So as I stood at the check out counter last night, with my box of medical grade latex gloves. I realized this gundam hobby that started out as a nostalgia kick had become serious business in the course of a year. This whole thing started at Katsucon last year when I was like I remember building those in high school man that was fun. I should do that for the new Gundam show I am watching cause Dynames is sexy. I built Dynames in about two weeks much the same way I built my models when I was a kid. It came out nice. Then I built the Kyrios model I got from Katsu and I put just a little more effort into it and I think it shows. Flash forward to me a year later in Image Anime dropping a hundred dollars of birthday money on a model kit I probably won't even start on for months cause I still have three other models waiting to be built. I don't want this to sound like I am complaining cause I am really enjoying this hobby and I am finding it for the most part very relaxing, I guess it just amuses me. My goal is to get something good enough to enter in one of the modeling contests they have at Otakon. FUCKING JO-ANNS!!!
So today on my day off, I was all excited because Ginny and I were still really ready to work on cosplay stuff so I was going to pick up fabric for our next project, some A-laws uniforms. I have had problems with Jo-anns before but I knew they had the fabric and color I needed cause it was the same stuff I used for Lyle's coat. Anyway I get there and they have like maybe a yard and a half maybe two yards. So I go up to the counter and ask if they have more and the old lady says no. My next question is do they have a book of color swatches because if I am special ordering something I would like something a little closer to my needs. She tells me no again. So I say alright well can you special order a bolt of this cause I am going to need the whole thing. She checks the system...no there is none in the warehouse. At this point I am seething to myself thinking how hard is it to have green bottomweight fabric for christsakes. I am so sick of this Jo-anns because we always have problems with finding fabric there. Anyway it is no big deal because Ginny and I are going into the city on saturday for my birthday, we will look around and see whats there and if we have to I can order the fabric online from Jo-anns because for some reason its available online and they can ship it to my apartment just not the store where I fucking need it. Anyway yeah Ginny and I will be hanging out in the city this saturday and anyone that wants to can come along. We will definitely be having lunch at the ramen shop. |
